Armed Forces Covenant
At OurCar, we believe that those who serve our country-and the families who support them-deserve our utmost respect, gratitude, and fair treatment.
We are incredibly proud to announce that we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. By doing so, OurCar has made a commitment to support the Armed Forces community, recognising the immense value that regulars, reservists, veterans, and military families bring to our organisation, our local community, and the nation.
Our Key Commitments
We don't just want to uphold the principles of the Covenant on paper; we are actively implementing policies to ensure members of the Armed Forces community face no disadvantages when working with us or applying to join our team.
Here is how we are turning our commitment into action:
Employment & Career Transition
- Guaranteed Interviews: We offer guaranteed interviews for veterans who meet the minimum criteria for any open role.
- Recognising Military Experience: We ensure that military training, qualifications, and unique skills are fully recognised and accounted for during our recruitment process, helping to bridge the skills translation gap into civilian careers.
- Veteran Mentorship: Transitioning to civilian life can be a challenge. To support this journey, we pair new veteran employees with senior staff members who act as mentors, providing a supportive "social bridge" into our culture.
Reservist Support
- Dedicated Leave: We understand the dedication and time required to serve as a reservist. To fully back our reservist team members, OurCar offers 10 days of paid leave specifically for annual training and mobilisation requirements.
Benefits for the Defence Community
- Zero Admin Fees: To show our appreciation to the wider defence community, we completely waive all documentation or "admin" fees for anyone holding a Defence Privilege Card.
Our Core Principles
As a private organisation, we believe it is our civic and corporate duty to support the Covenant's core principles:
- No Disadvantage: No member of the Armed Forces community should face disadvantages arising from their service when accessing services.
- Special Provision: In some circumstances, special provision is entirely justified-especially for those who have given the most, such as the injured or bereaved.
